Restoration and Display of a Thracian Chariot

The Project’ stages include restoration activities of the team of archeologist Vesselin Ignatov on the decoration of a two-wheel Thracian chariot from the beginning of the 2nd Century AD, with no analogue in archeology. The chariot was excavated in the 70-ies by his colleague, archeologist Mityo Kanchev.

The Project’s objective is the successful completion of the excavations and the storage and preservation of the finds there. After the start of the excavations in 2008 the Ministry of Culture offered financial support to the archeologist Vesselin Ignatov in order to protect the oldest Thracian chariot discovered on our land from treasure-hunters.
