Project “Restoration, Preservation and Display of a Thracian Chariot from the Village of Karanovo”
The Project’ stages include restoration activities of the team of archeologist Vesselin Ignatov on the decoration of a two-wheel Thracian chariot from the beginning of the 2nd Century AD, with no analogue in archeology. The chariot was excavated in the 70-ies by his colleague, archeologist Mityo Kanchev. However, only after the x-ray photo 30 years later, it hinted to the treasure that was hidden under its corroded remains. At the end of the first stage of the project, аn exhibition was organized of the first and biggest restored element at the Mall of Sofia where for a week only more than 35000 visitors saw the find in live. At the end of the second stage in January 2010, a scale model worked out in a ratio of 1:5 would be displayed and an exhibition of the remaining restored elements would be organized in Sofia again. The Project is entirely sponsored by United Bulgarian Bank and it enjoys a wide public response.
United Bulgarian Bank is the Project’s Major Sponsor, in a partnership with the Association, the Historical Museum of Nova Zagora and the Municipality of Nova Zagora
